Make a point about the frustrating low-level nature of this thing.
While it's also fun if there is no stress to get things done, it is
hard to get something done because everything needs to be re-invented.
What this has shown me is that layered abstraction really is useful.
That there is already a lot of abstraction between the machine and a
typical C program. Also, having "plenty of buffer memory" can make
