Artificial problem

Another thing: the descriptor thing is artificial. The only state
that needs to be maintained is the buffer number. The rest can just
be hardcoded as it's known at compile time.

It actually seems easier to just generate the descriptors in C, and
use a special-purpose code structure to dump multiple buffers.

Another thing is that maybe the host will actually do multiple queries
if short results are returned?
