Stack machines with large register files

Somehow a lot of the actual code i wrote in Staapl's forth dialect is
an exercise in global resource allocation.  I never knew data
indirection was so expensive until i met the PIC chip :)

But the idea is more general: the tension between simple
machine/hardware and macros and code generation is very visible with
this chip.  Programming on a bigger RISC with cheap indirection makes
this not so obvious..  So maybe the point is really to get to hardware
in the end?
