Regarding projective view: it doubles the number of variables.  This
might not be wise w.r.t. computation.  Still, depending on the "mode"
an algorithm is in, it might still be wise to allow both G and R to be
computed without actually computing inverses.

The best representation of a matrix is as code. (Piponi on Twitter?)

If the local "clustering" can somehow be maintained, this it might be
possible to do primal/dual approaches for computing CG updates.
