Snarfing a bootable NTFS partition

# make an image file that's large enough to contain the partition
dd if=/dev/zero of=win7.img seek=70000000000 obs=1 count=0

# create an ntfs partition using cfdisk
cfdisk win7.img

# expose partition as /dev/nbd0pa
modprobe nbd
qemu-nbd -c /dev/nbd0 win7.img

# copy partition
dd if=/dev/sda3 of=/dev/nbd0p1

# start qemu with rescue disk to restore nt loader

EDIT: this didn't work.. won't boot.
