JNI interface with type checking

Something that's quite necessary to make this work reliably is a
dynamic type checker. The information is available (it's necessary
for method lookup) so it shouldn't be too difficult to integrate.

What's the simplest way to run a JNI example on a Linux platform?
From here[1] we have:

gcc -o libnativelib.so -shared -Wl,-soname,libnative.so
     -I/export/home/jdk1.2/include
     -I/export/home/jdk1.2/include/linux nativelib.c
     -static -lc

I have some preliminary code outside of the project, which with a bit
of cleanup can probably be made into a LEAF<->JAVA interface.
